Information about Admissions at Ellisville State School
Ellisville State School provides services to persons residing in Mississippi with intellectual/developmental disabilities from a designated service area. Counties in this service area include:
Adams, Amite, Claiborne, Clarke, Clay, Copiah, Covington, Forrest, Franklin, Greene, Jasper, Jefferson, Jefferson Davis, Jones, Kemper, Lamar, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Lincoln, Lowndes, Marion, Neshoba, Newton, Noxubee, Perry, Pike, Simpson, Smith, Walthall, Wayne, Wilkinson, and Winston.
In addition, children and people under 21 years of age with a diagnosis of mild or moderate IDD from the Hudspeth Regional Center's service area may receive residential services if such services are considered appropriate to meet the individual's needs.
The admission procedure is initiated upon receipt of a Department of Mental Health Application for Services. At this point, information from previous placements/school records/appropriate medical records is requested in order to schedule an evaluation through the Jaycee Evaluation Center. When the evaluation has been completed, Ellisville State School's Administrative Screening Review Committee determines the most appropriate services for the applicant. If the person is appropriate for services offered by Ellisville State School, his/her name is placed on the appropriate planning list until services become available.
